NEC NP-M311X — Portable XGA 3LCD Projector

A portable 3LCD projector producing 3100 lumens at XGA resolution, with HDMI, VGA and wired network connectivity. Backed by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty. Light enough to carry between rooms, bright enough to work with the lights on — a practical classroom and meeting-room projector.

Key Benefits

  • Genuinely portable — compact and light enough to move between classrooms, carry to a client site or store in a cupboard between uses, rather than being tied to one ceiling mount.
  • 3100 lumens — a meaningful step above entry-level output. Slides and text stay readable under normal classroom and office lighting without closing every blind.
  • HDMI and VGA together — connects to current laptops over HDMI and to older laptops, document cameras and room PCs over VGA, with no adapter needed for either.
  • 3LCD colour engine — colour brightness matches white brightness, so coloured text, charts and photographs hold their saturation instead of fading in a lit room.
  • Network connectivity — the RJ45 LAN port allows monitoring and control over the network, useful where a school or business runs projectors across many rooms.
  • Fast, simple setup — quick start-up, zoom adjustment and automatic keystone correction mean a square, focused image within moments of switching on.

Performance in Use

The M311X is designed around the reality that a projector often has to be set up quickly by someone who is not an AV technician. Sit it on a table, power it on, plug in a laptop, adjust the zoom ring and let automatic keystone correction square the image — a presentation is running in under a minute. For a school with a shared projector trolley, a training company working in hired rooms, or a business that presents in whichever meeting room is free, that speed matters more than any specification.

At 3100 lumens it has real working headroom. This is the brightness level where a projector stops requiring a darkened room and starts being usable in normal conditions — overhead lights on, blinds partly open, an audience able to read their notes. The 3LCD engine keeps colour output as bright as white output, which is why coloured charts and photographs stay vivid rather than looking washed out.

Both video inputs earn their place. HDMI handles current laptops, media players and streaming sticks directly. VGA covers the older laptops, document cameras and fixed room PCs still in daily service across schools and offices, so a mixed environment is supported without a bag of adapters. Set expectations on resolution: XGA is 1024 x 768 in a 4:3 shape, ideal for standard presentation slides and document cameras, but widescreen content will letterbox and this is not the projector for Full HD film viewing.

Condition Grades

A — Excellent Minimal signs of use. Housing largely free from marks. Presents close to new.
B — Good Fully tested and functional. Housing may show scratches, light scuffing, small dents or paint chips from normal use.

Grading covers cosmetic appearance only. Every unit is functionally tested to the same standard regardless of grade. The lamp is a consumable item — remaining lamp hours are checked during testing and we can confirm the reading for a specific unit on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Can I connect a modern laptop directly?

Yes. The HDMI input connects current laptops, media players and streaming devices without an adapter. Laptops with only USB-C video output need a simple USB-C to HDMI adapter.

Is it bright enough with the lights on?

Yes, for normal room lighting. At 3100 lumens presentation slides and text remain clearly readable with overhead lights on and blinds partly open. Direct sunlight on the screen will wash out any projector.

Is a remote control included?

No. This unit is supplied without a remote control. The on-body control panel handles setup and everyday operation, and the LAN port allows network control. Compatible replacement remotes are widely available.

How many lamp hours are left?

Lamp hours are read during testing. The lamp is a consumable item that will eventually need replacing, and replacement lamps for this model remain available. Contact us before ordering if you would like the reading for the unit currently in stock.

Is it easy to set up in a different room each time?

That is what it is built for. Quick start-up, a manual zoom ring and automatic keystone correction mean you can place it on a table, power on, connect and be presenting in well under a minute.

Will widescreen slides display correctly?

They will display, but the native panel is XGA 4:3, so 16:9 content appears letterboxed with bands above and below. Standard 4:3 presentation slides and document camera output fill the screen fully.

How is it shipped?

Shipping costs apply based on size and destination — rates are calculated at checkout. The unit is packed for safe transit from our Melbourne facility.
