A slim all-metal 14-inch business ultrabook with an Intel Core i7-4600U, 8GB RAM and a 256GB SSD. Ships with no operating system installed and integrated 4G LTE mobile broadband, backed by a 12-month Reboot IT warranty.
Key benefits
- No OS - deploy your own - Ships clean. Install Linux, apply your corporate image, or use an existing volume licence - no cost baked in for software you would overwrite.
- All-metal ultrabook chassis - Machined aluminium and magnesium at roughly 19mm thick and 1.5kg - a genuinely premium business build that still feels solid.
- Integrated 4G LTE - Built-in mobile broadband means a data SIM gets you online without tethering or hunting for public Wi-Fi.
- 256GB SSD and 8GB RAM - Solid-state storage keeps a lightweight Linux desktop responsive, and 8GB is comfortable for browser-and-office workloads.
- Business ports still fitted - DisplayPort, VGA, USB 3.0, Gigabit Ethernet and an SD card reader - no adapters needed for older office equipment.
- Backlit spill-resistant keyboard - A full-size backlit keyboard with touchpad and pointing stick, built for long typing sessions.
Performance in use
The Core i7-4600U is a dual-core, four-thread part from the Haswell generation. It is not a machine for video editing or modern gaming, but for a browser with a dozen tabs, an office suite and a terminal it remains perfectly comfortable - especially with the SSD doing the heavy lifting on load times.
Because it ships with no operating system, this unit suits anyone who wants control over the software stack: a Linux workstation, a thin client, a kiosk, a lab machine, or a corporate SOE deployment. Ubuntu, Mint and Debian all run well on this hardware and the 8GB of RAM is generous for a lightweight desktop environment.
The integrated 4G LTE module is the standout feature at this price. Drop in a data SIM and the machine is online anywhere with mobile coverage - useful for field techs, site work, or as a backup connection when the office link drops.
